Weather wise, I'm clearly making a good choice by moving to Halifax. Although, the "Air Quality Health Index" is ominous - why does Hali have one and Edmonton doesn't? And is "2" good or bad?

If the AQHI is between 1 and 3 the health risk from air pollutants is "low". 4-6 means moderate health risk, 7-10 means high risk and 10+ is very high. Halifax has pretty good air quality and, as in most medium and small size cities, the AQHI is usually between 1 and 3. Toronto and other big cities have higher AQHI values. The Alberta government refuses to participate in the program, though it is a national index.

Thanks for the explanation! Alberta's lack of participation is no surprise. I am also very pleased that I just moved to an area with good air quality. Just one more thing about Halifax to love.
